What was formerly McNary Area Choir Camp has a little different look this summer, and here is why!
We are pleased to introduce a new program starting at McNary High School:
CMP (contemporary Music Project) : This program will be focusing on the pop/rock music industry giving students the opportunity to learn sound, lighting, pop/rock instruments, songwriting, performing pop/rock music.
This summer camp is going to help us kick off this new program with a bang, and here is what your participant has to look forward to:
- Large and small group singing classes focused in pop/rock music (everyone on stage needs to know how to sing)
- Sampler classes that could be included:
- rock band 101
- drum circle
- music games
- how to read a pop chart
- instrument building,
- recording studio explained and recording sessions
- pop acapella exploration,
- reading music skill set
- I want to be a pop star
- song writing
- my favorite song is?
WHO: Incoming 4th through 6th grade – Starter Camp (with Mr. Thomas and others)
Incoming 7th-9th grade – Advanced Camp (with Mr. Rist)
WHEN: July 16th – 20th, Concert the 20th at 11:30.
9:00 am to 12:00 pm (Summer Rocks Music Experience)
12:30pm to 3pm Afternoon small group specialized lessons (see below)
12:30pm to 3:00pm Drama Camp (see reverse side for info.)

Thursday at 11 is Water War and Water Games Activity FUN FUN FUN!!!
CAMP OPTIONS – choose 1,2 or all 3
1) Music Experience morning camp 9-12 $70 dollars includes registration, T-Shirt, and materials
2) Afternoon Pop/Rock Focus Lessons – see below for prices
3) Afternoon Drama Camp – $70 includes registration, t-shirt, and materials
Pop/Rock Focus Lessons
Come hone in your skills with more individualized instruction in small groups with more one on one attention. Choose 1 or 2 classes.
Options (each class is $30 for 5 1 hour lessons, steal of a deal):
Guitar 1 – learn the basics of how to play the guitar (guitars provided)
Guitar 2 – For those that have some playing experience but want to further develop their skills.
Stage presence – Develop your singing technique, stage appearance, and mic technique.
Pop/Rock Singing technique – learn the techniques that pop/rock artists use to sing stylistically well.
Lots of fun!!! Meet New Friends!! Perform on stage!
From 12:30 – 3:00 each day the participants (in coming 4th through 9th grade) will engage in fun activities exploring the world of drama. Some of the topics include; drama games, teamwork skills, building blocks of acting. No experience needed, or if you do, great! We will put on a performance in conjunction with the choir camp performance on Friday!
Can I do choir camp and drama camp? Yes
Singing and acting go hand in hand so it is our hope to have as many choir kids as can do the drama camp too.
Can I do Drama Camp and afternoon pop/rock focus lessons? Yes, but you will miss an hour of drama camp if so.
One again we have an awesome team of top notch instructors that will be leading the camp.
