Q: When does school start?
A: The first day of school is September 15th.
Q: What will the school day look like?
A: Grade levels will be doing the same things at the same times. For example, all third graders will have their synchronous literacy session at the same time every day (Tuesday through Friday). There will be additional time for teacher-facilitated learning, which may look like the teacher meeting virtually with a small group of students or potentially one-on-one. There will also be regular times for teachers to connect with families to offer support. Teachers will communicate their learning schedule with you on the first part of September.
Q: Will assignments be posted every day or for the week? Will it be 100% teacher led throughout the day and what will it look like for parents? What time does my student have to log on and for how long?
A: Synchronous lessons will be delivered Tuesday through Friday. Lessons will be recorded for those who can’t access the lessons during the day. Additional music and PE asynchronous lessons will be available on Mondays. Lessons will be posted daily. Assignments can be turned in through these learning platforms as well.
Q: What platform will be used for Comprehensive Distance Learning?
A: We are moving away from Google to the following learning platforms: Seesaw for K-2 and Canvas for 3 to 12th grades.
Q: How will CDL compare to the spring?
A: Comprehensive Distance Learning will look different from the Spring. It will be more rigorous, include more time with each subject area and attendance will be monitored through participation.
Q: Will the school be able to print the worksheets ahead of time – at least a week or a couple of days prior to the delivery of instruction so parents can pick them up?
A: If print is needed, we will make sure that they are printed ahead of time, so that you can have access to them before lessons start.
Q: How will distance learning look like for my child who has an IEP?
A: We know parents of students with IEPs and 504 plans have special concerns that need to be addressed. Please reach out to your child’s case manager for more information.
Q: How do we manage live classes when both parents work?
A: Parents may access recorded lessons in the evening as their schedule allows. Parents are encouraged to reach out to their child’s teacher for assistance with navigating the schedule.
Q: What school supplies are needed? Do we need a separate set of school supplies for at home and at school? Do we need a printer?
A: The following are the supplies needed for CDL. A printer is not required. We will review what supplies are needed when we return to school at a later date.
