The West Keizer Neighborhood Association encompasses around 3,100 households in Keizer. The Association’s mission is to improve the quality of life for those who live, work and play in West Keizer.

Because of all they do for the school, Principal Magda Romero at Cummings Elementary has nominated the West Keizer Neighborhood Association as our Community Partner of the Month.

About five years ago, the West Keizer Neighborhood Association “adopted” Cummings, said Association President Carol Doerfler. They began advocating for sidewalks to be constructed on Delight Street next to the school.

Carol works as a substitute crossing guard at Cummings, so she has firsthand knowledge of the need for sidewalks.

Another way the Association supports Cummings is by helping with landscaping. Each spring they help with the flower bed under the school’s reader board, and with concrete flower pots. Principal Romero says the flowers are often supplied by Egan Gardens.

The Association also recently spruced up the area around the foundation of the school, removing spiderwebs, pulling weeds and laying bark dust.

Everyone at Cummings Elementary would like to say a big “Thank You” to the West Keizer Neighborhood Association. Congratulations on being recognized as Salem-Keizer’s Community Partner of the Month for all the support you give to your neighborhood school!
